Internship

The Department of Nursing of IHU, like all the Nursing Faculties of the country, has the mission to promote the development and transfer of scientific knowledge and clinical skills in the field of nursing science, through theoretical teaching, laboratory and clinical practice, as well as applied research.

The objectives of the students’ clinical placement are:

  • to become familiar with the clinical area,
  • to be able to assess and prioritize the nursing problems of the individual,
  • to apply, as far as possible (and under supervision), various nursing procedures,
  • to evaluate the results after the application of care and monitor the administration of nursing instructions to the patient and his/her relatives,
  • to be in contact with modern biomedical equipment in the clinical environment,
  • apply their theoretical knowledge in practice.

From the second semester of their studies in the Department, students are required to undertake clinical internships in healthcare facilities in order to consolidate both their theoretical knowledge and the acquired skills in the Department’s laboratories.
